The problem
Trade risk is often discovered only after the event:
- a counterparty or vessel is added to a sanctions list after the contract has been signed and the goods shipped;
- credit lines, margin and insurance limits are maintained by different departments, and traders do not know how much headroom they have;
- the invoicing party differs from the receiving party, or goods and funds move unusually, with no system check;
- credit insurance shipment declarations are missed or claims filed late, and cover is lost.
How Tranexio handles it
- Sanctions screening: counterparties are screened on creation; consignors, consignees, carriers and banks are screened again when contracts, orders, shipments and payments are submitted. External sanctions list sources can be connected, with retrospective rescans after list updates.
- Limit management: customer credit lines, group credit frameworks, pledge-discounted limits and credit insurance limits all sit in the limit ledger, and available headroom is checked on submission.
- Four-flow consistency: parties, quantities and amounts are compared across contract, logistics, invoice and funds, and an alert is raised when differences exceed the threshold.
- Business blocking: screening hits, insufficient limits, overdue receivables and similar cases block downstream business by rule; lifting a block requires approval and leaves a trail.
- Export credit insurance: manage buyer credit status and limits, policies, shipment declarations, notices of possible loss and claims; the platform supports EDI connection with export credit insurers.
- Risk dashboard: risk events, limit utilisation, overdue ageing and screening results are summarised, with alerts pushed by severity.
Key controls
| Control | How it works |
|---|---|
| Screening gate | Documents matching a list cannot be submitted and must be reviewed by compliance |
| Limit gate | Business exceeding available headroom is blocked or sent for approval |
| Insurance deadlines | Alerts are raised before shipment declaration, notice of possible loss and claim deadlines |
| Lifting blocks | Lifting a block requires approval, recording the reason and the approver |
| Segregation of duties | Key roles follow a segregation-of-duties matrix so no one person handles the whole process |
