Key points
- “Multi-account trading gateway” is a platform term for the unified access layer across multiple entities, accounts, broker systems and exchanges.
- Typical functions: mapping accounts to traders, order routing, pre-trade rule checks, consolidation of fill and position reports, and primary–standby failover when a broker system goes down.
- Connections to futures brokers’ trading systems must meet look-through supervision requirements, with certification completed before going live in production.
In practice
In large trading groups, derivatives trading is often spread across several units: different entities hold accounts with different futures brokers, a single entity may keep separate speculative and hedging accounts, and domestic and overseas markets each have their own channels. Traders switch between terminals, risk teams can only aggregate positions after the fact, and limits and authorisations rarely take effect before an order is placed.
Once trading is consolidated through a single gateway, every order is first checked against rules – authorisation, limits, contract, price deviation, order frequency – and then routed to the right account’s broker system. Fills and positions are consolidated by entity, account, trader and hedging relationship, and reconciled with broker statements at the end of each day. Group four-level control, exposure and integrated futures-and-physical accounting all rest on this layer of data.
How Tranexio supports it
Tranexio provides a multi-account futures trading terminal that manages futures accounts, traders, sub-accounts and risk templates, applying 14 categories of trading risk rules before an order is placed. Futures brokers’ trading systems connect via the integration hub, and production connections are opened once look-through certification is complete. See Derivatives trading.
