# Platform overview

The Tranexio platform is an integrated domestic and international trade platform built on one product core plus industry packs and delivered through configuration. SaaS, private and hybrid cloud run the same code; multi-tenancy, multiple legal entities, multiple currencies and three languages are core capabilities, and project differences live in configuration.

## Key points

- **One core, industry packs on top**：Contracts, orders, customs, logistics, treasury, finance and risk share one product core, while commodities, machinery export, processing trade and more are added as industry and capability packs rather than copies of the system.
- **Five-layer configuration**：Each deployment is built from five layers (product core, industry pack, project pack, tenant configuration and user preferences), each overriding the one above, so project configuration keeps working after product upgrades.
- **Three deployment options, one codebase**：Multi-tenant SaaS, single-tenant private deployment and hybrid cloud use the same build artefacts, differing only in deployment parameters and tenant configuration; there is no separate China or international edition.
- **Multiple organisations, currencies and languages**：Organisations are modelled as tenant, operating entity (legal entity), department, employee and account; transaction, functional and group reporting currencies are converted; the interface runs in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English.
- **All external connections through the hub**：The Single Window, the electronic tax bureau, banks and treasury, futures brokers’ trading systems, finance and OA systems all connect through standard connectors on the integration hub, so business modules never deal with external protocols.

## The problem

A trading company’s business is often split across OA, customs software, Excel, trading terminals and the finance system, and every new trade model or legal entity means another round of system changes. Tranexio brings these functions into one core and handles differences through configuration, not by copying the system. It is the AI-native upgrade of a mature trade and customs product line, offering existing customers a smooth upgrade.

## What the platform does: a layered architecture

| Layer | What it does |
|---|---|
| Access | Web client, role-based workbenches and external collaboration portals; unified identity and single sign-on |
| Business applications | Contracts and orders, customs, logistics and documents, export tax refunds, pricing, derivatives and hedging, treasury and settlement, finance-business integration, risk and compliance, decision analytics |
| Platform services | Visual approval workflows and forms, messaging and to-dos, five-dimension permissions, audit logs, configuration centre, AI gateway |
| Integration | [Integration hub](https://tranexio.com/en/platform/integration-hub/): connectors, event routing, idempotent replay, monitoring and alerts |
| Data | Supports MySQL and is adapted to Chinese domestic databases such as Dameng; all files go through a storage gateway |

Trade models are not a flat list but a combination of commercial model × regulatory model × transaction method, with overlay capabilities such as hedging, credit insurance, open-account sales and tax refunds on top; see [Trade models](https://tranexio.com/en/trade-models/).

## Five-layer configuration

1. **Product core**: shared by every customer, with no hard-coded branches for any customer or project name.
2. **Industry packs**: such as commodity trading, machinery export and processing trade, enabled as needed.
3. **Project packs**: project-level parameters, approval chains, reports and extension fields.
4. **Tenant configuration**: numbering rules, dictionaries, chart-of-accounts mapping and module switches.
5. **User preferences**: list columns, default filters, language and time zone.

## Foundation capabilities

- **Multi-tenancy**: field-level isolation in a shared SaaS database, with an optional dedicated data source per tenant; one-click tenant initialisation.
- **Multiple organisations**: a five-level chain of tenant → operating entity (legal entity) → department → employee → account, with data permissions cascading through the organisation hierarchy.
- **Multiple currencies**: conversion between transaction, functional and group reporting currencies, with exchange rates and FX gains and losses managed centrally.
- **Multiple languages**: interface in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and English; master data names shown in the user’s language; time zone set per legal entity.
- **Deployment**: SaaS, private or hybrid cloud; see [Security, access control and deployment](https://tranexio.com/en/platform/security-deployment/).
- **AI**: AI capabilities are offered to business modules through a single gateway with a full audit trail; see [AI-native architecture](https://tranexio.com/en/platform/ai/).

## FAQ

### Is Tranexio one system or several products stitched together?

It is one system. Contracts, orders, customs, logistics, tax refunds, price fixing and hedging, treasury and accounting share one product core and one data model, with the trade contract as the single source of truth and the order as the anchor for the four flows. Industry differences are layered on as industry packs and configuration, not as separate products.

### Do the SaaS and private editions have the same features?

Yes. Multi-tenant SaaS, single-tenant private deployment and hybrid cloud use the same code and the same build artefacts. Feature scope is set by tenant configuration and module switches, not by deployment type. Private deployments can be supplied with offline installation packages and licence certificate activation.

### Will our special requirements need code changes?

In principle, no. Project differences are delivered through five layers of configuration: product core, industry pack, project pack, tenant configuration and user preferences. Module switches, approval workflows, numbering rules, extension fields, reports and parameter switches are all configurable, and the product core never contains customer-specific branches.

### Does it support multi-entity groups and overseas subsidiaries?

Yes. Operating entities map one-to-one to legal entities and can express group, division and subsidiary across several levels. Each legal entity keeps its own books, and cross-entity transactions are flagged as related-party automatically. Overseas subsidiaries are supported as overseas subsidiaries of a Chinese group, with multiple languages, multiple currencies and per-entity time zones.
